News From Swains Creek

Labor Day 2006 was a busy and fun weekend! All volunteers are truly appreciated. Planning for the weekend events began shortly after Labor Day, 2005, and preparations for the Labor Day weekend activities start well in advance of the weekend. Many people came together this year to make Camp Golden Eagle and the annual pit Bar-B-Que dinner a success!

We had 105 kids who signed up for Camp Golden Eagle activities - THANK YOU to all who volunteered for the weekend activities. Fishing and frog catching were VERY challenging. Horseshoes, volleyball, and archery were quite popular. CPR instructions were available with our Annie CPR doll. Crafts were a HIT! Choices included numerous beaded creations, visors to be decorated, pencil holders, and critter food made from pinecones, peanut butter and bird food. Redneck golf, Basketball, and face painting were new additions this year. Kids also enjoyed the clothes race and the ball toss. The night hike was moved to Sunday (due to the rain) and was both educational and entertaining - kudos to the Forsstrom brothers!

Thank you to the raffle prize
