News From Swains Creek

We are preparing for our Annual Labor Day festivities.  After much discussion, it was decided that we would ask for 10 volunteers for fire pit duty - volunteers need gloves and usually have a two hour shift.

We also need 25 volunteers for Camp Golden Eagle.  People are needed to sign up kids, count frogs, measure fish, oversee the horseshoe contests, teach archery, cook hot dogs for lunch, teach arts and crafts, assist with the obstacle course, oversee the ball toss, etc.

If we do not have enough volunteers, we will eliminate some of the activities.

Please call Cheryl Case at 702-595-5900 (leave a message), or email cheryl@comnett.net to volunteer, and put 'swains' in the subject box. :-).  Volunteering for an hour or two truly makes a difference!

PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL RIGHT NOW IF YOU CAN TO HELP!!

Bear Spotted Near Swains Creek!

A black bear was south of our development at the first pond, attempting to get into a 5th wheel trailer.  The people in the 5th wheel trailer were able to scare the bear off.  The Utah Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources division, provided flyers which are available from Bill Rodrieck.  The flyer explains that the bears are attracted to odors such as those from human food, pet food, garbage, hummingbird feeders, toothpaste, suntan lotion, and insect repellant.  Recommendations include making noise: yell, clap hands, or bang pots to scare it away.  If approached by a black bear,  it is recommended that you retreat slowly or climb a tree until it leaves.

Road Work Continues

Water line installation continues all through the sub-division. Information changes so quickly due to weather or construction delays caused by hitting bedrock that it is not feasible to publish where road closures are occurring.

The best source of information is probably a neighbor, who is currently on the mountain or call the Barn (435)-682-3127 and leave a message. Bill or Dave will get back to you as soon as they can. Make sure you leave your phone number!!!

Sorry for the inconvenience!!
