Welcome to summer,

As we are all aware, summer has come early this year and it seems like it is here with a vengeance. However, the pond seems to be holding it's own for now and another fish plant will have taken place before the July 4 weekend.  It may be the last for this season so get fishing while the fishing is good.

As if to add insult to injury, the contractor for the water system installation has asked us to consider draining the pond to a very low level to allow them to trench across the dike. We are asking for more information as to the absolute necessity of this and hope to avoid any release of water from the pond if at all possible. If we do have to partially drain the pond, I don't think it will be able to be filled again this year. On the subject of the water system, things

are progressing rapidly. Trenching has begun in several areas and there are stacks of water pipe everywhere. To once again reiterate, PLEASE BE CAREFUL when driving in the area. You should have received your letter from the KCWCD by now containing your payment options if you decide to hook up to the water system. If you have not received this letter yet, please contact the KCWCD to request one as soon as possible. Their Web site is: www.kcwcd.com

On the subject of Labor Day and Camp Golden Eagle, we are still in dire need of volunteers for a myriad of chores/activities. Please step up and lend a hand if you can, it really is a fun event to participate in.

The attendance at the monthly board meetings at the barn has been great.

Chairman’s Chat

A lot of members are showing up to take part in or simply listen to what is going on. I think this is wonderful way to keep up on current items of concern to association members and encourage everyone to keep it up. I will do my best to keep the meetings moving along; however, I do believe that if members have a concern or comment they want to make they deserve that right. Have a great summer and I hope to see you at a board meeting and at the Labor Day activities.

See you on the mountain.

Alan,

Chairman

Heavy Rains during 4th Weekend

Heavy Rains during the July 4th weekend left the pond full and mud everywhere. Manager Bill opened the gates leading away from the pond to prevent the pond from overflowing. What a change from past seasons on the mountain!
